The second half of my challenge started with 3.5 miles in the sunshine at the park in Dulwich at lunchtime.
Soon I might not be working from home any more, and lunchtime runs might be more difficult, so I'm keen to make the most of the chance while I can.

In 2009 I set out to run a total of 500 miles to raise funds for Practical Action - a charity which works with communities in developing countries to help them tackle poverty and improve their lives using simple, sustainable technology. I achieved my target in November and went on to complete 601 miles in the year.

Challenge rules
1. Only continuous runs of 1 mile or more, outdoors, count.
2. Distances are measured by plotting my route using this website.
3. Training runs, races, running to the station all count (as long as they're more than a mile).
4. I keep track of all my runs on a log.
5. If I fail to reach the 500 mile target by the end of the year, I pay Practical Action £1 for every mile short.

- Having never run in my life (apart from a few cross-country runs at school) I took up running in 2007. Since then have completed two marathons, four half marathons and several 5k and 10k races for charity: Beating Bowel Cancer, Practical Action, Cancer Research, Cure Parkinsons, Asthma UK, UNICEF and CLIC Sargent).
